Join us this Monday, March 6th at 12:30 for a talk with Saquib Shaikh, a blind engineer and designer of the Seeing AI app. Saqib Shaikh positions disability as a driver of innovation. He will describe and illustrate the Seeing AI app that provides descriptions of the user’s environment using their phone’s camera. He will also discuss how the app helps bridge the gap between Artificial Intelligence and inclusive design. The event will be held over zoom. Link is in our link tree, located in our bio! The Disability Awareness Alliance of Canada at State Street Financial is coming to DST to provide guidance and mentorship around career development!

The School of Disability Studies and the Faculty of Community Services are now accepting applications for a broad range of in-program and faculty-wide student awards and grants. These awards aim to recognize the achievements of students in the program and to facilitate your education through financial support! The School of Disability Studies offers over 12 different awards benefiting up to 35 students, ranging from $1,000 to $2,000 per recipient. The application deadline to apply for the awards is February 17th, 2023.
